Terrae Incognitae - The Journal of the Society for the History of Discoveries

(1969-2005)

First published in 1969, the journale Terrae Incognitae is the semiannual publication of the Society for the History of Discoveries, founded in 1960 in the USA. As its name implies, the primary objective of this scholarly society is to promote activities and studies relating to the history of geographical discoveries and explorations, covering such broad subjects as literature, cartography, anthropology and navigation. Alongside the publication of Terrae Incognitae, the Society for the History of Discoveries also organizes an annual meeting, whose theme varies from year to year, as does the venue for hosting the event
